Keyboard Morning Bin/Center

Introducing Keyboarding Early!

I love morning choice bins but going back to school being told that students were unable to share was definitely a struggle for this teacher’s brain! So I set off on a mission to begin to find ideas that could be individualized! One of those ideas is this keyboarding center. I think it is important to start introducing young kiddos to keyboarding skills early. And as a bonus this kind of morning bin also helps with letter recognition for young learners!

I bought these keyboard skins (thin laptop keyboard covers) from amazon – linked below – and these color cards available as a FREEBIE in my TpT store – also linked below!

These cards can also be used in other morning bins and centers:

  • magnetic letters (the red and blue ones are my favorite – red for vowels and blue for consonants!)
  • letter cards
  • rainbow writing
  •  stamps
The options are endless! The keyboards are just one of the many ways to build letter recognition with your students while also getting them to begin learning the all important skill of keyboarding. Morning bins should be fun and interactive but I love it when they also serve several learning purposes as well! I call that a win!
